At Kōrero Mai with Ahurei, holistic wellbeing is guided by Te Whare Tapa Whā, a Māori model of wellbeing developed by Sir Mason Durie. This model recognises that hauora is made up of four interconnected pou:
When these four walls are supported and in balance, wellbeing is strengthened. Our mahi acknowledges the whole person and the many influences shaping their lived experience.
Te Whare Tapa Whā reminds us that no single part of wellbeing exists on its own. Stress, trauma, or life changes can impact multiple pou at once. By working holistically, we create space for deeper understanding, healing, and sustainable change.
Sessions are grounded in whakawhanaungatanga and the creation of a safe, respectful space. Using Te Whare Tapa Whā as a guiding framework, sessions may include kōrero, reflection, journalling, goal-setting, grounding practices, movement, and spiritual reflection such as gratitude or karakia. Each session is tailored to your needs and where you are on your hīkoi.
Āe. By working across all four pou of Te Whare Tapa Whā, holistic support can help you understand stress more fully, develop coping strategies, and reconnect with balance and clarity during times of change.
No, I am not a registered counsellor.
My approach is informed by lived experience, including my own mental health journey and ongoing engagement in counselling. This space is intended to support holistic wellbeing, reflection, and personal growth. If clinical or specialist support is required, referrals will be encouraged.
He Hīkoi Oranga is primarily offered online via Microsoft Teams, allowing flexibility and accessibility for wāhine wherever they are. Online sessions create a safe and supportive space while fitting into busy lives. Where appropriate and by arrangement, in-person sessions can also be organised. We acknowledge the importance of kanohi ki te kanohi connection and the value of strengthening relationships through face-to-face kōrero.
